Hi, I’m James Chisholm

I’m James Chisholm, a 24-year-old landscape and astrophotographer based in Wellington, New Zealand. My work is driven by a passion for capturing the natural world — from the rugged coastlines and mountains of New Zealand to locations further afield.

I first picked up a Canon 550D Camera at 15, and what started as a hobby quickly grew into a long-term pursuit to improve my skills and develop my own style. Over the years, photography has become closely tied to my passion for travel and exploration. I’m always seeking out new locations, whether they’re well-known landscapes or more remote, lesser-visited spots, with the goal of capturing them in a way that feels authentic and immersive.

My photography focuses on landscape and night sky imagery, often combining dramatic light, weather, and natural elements to create images that reflect the mood and scale of each location. Through my work, I aim to share the places I experience and inspire others to explore and appreciate the environments around them.

I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to travel across New Zealand and the world, photographing scenes that are unique and tailored to different countries and cultures. My work is also available through local markets, such as the Artisan Craft Market in Wellington.

Whether it’s through prints or location guides, my goal is to make these landscapes accessible and to help others discover the same sense of perspective that photography has given me.
